15 Simple & Savvy Interview Tips

1. Arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the set interview time.

2. If there is a receptionist, greet him or her with a warm smile, and a clear and friendly greeting.  State your name, the time, and the person you are to see.

3. Groom well-make sure hair is clean and in place, make sure nails are either polished clear or neutral and NO chipped polish

4.  Make sure you wear the correct attire.  Usually dark colors are for business interviews.  If you wear a skirt, make sure you wear body toned stockings.  Make sure you shoes are polished,and shined, with no scuff marks.  Do not carry big oversized purses, wear loud lipstick and bright make-up or big earrings.

5. Be alert and show enthusiasm

6. The interviewer is in Charge-do not overtalk or outtalk the interviewer

7. Be intentional about your body language-do not let your expressions, slouching, fidgeting, etc. be a reason for UNEMPLOYMENT!

8. Speak in a confident voice and tone

9. Make eye contact when you are speaking and when the interviewer is speaking

10. Use your power words “please, thank you, and excuse me”. (Read more about power words)

11.Answer questions thoroughly

13. Do not watch clock or watch during interview

15. Give a firm handshake when leaving, thank the interviewer for their time, and let them know you look forward to hearing from them.
